Welcome back to another busy half term in Class 3. The children are fully engaging with our new book for the term ‘The Lost Words’ in their reading and writing every day. Please feel free to visit and watch the links below; How to write a poem - BBC Bitesize English KS2: Write a poem - BBC Teach Our learning in maths continues to be ever important and there are a couple of online learning resources that can help children with their learning, the sats papers are free to download and practice! 1-Minute Maths | White Rose Maths https://uk.ixl.com/maths www.sats-papers.co.uk/ks2-sats-papers/ We still have PE with Wes every Tuesday and dance sessions every Wednesday and try to get outside as much as possible so please can you ensure that children have PE kits in school every day. Thanks Mr Waites This year, we have a new approach to setting homework. We are sending home a creative ‘project based’ set of 3 tasks to choose from in each class. These homework projects will allow you to take an interest in your child’s learning as they are all linked to curriculum work undertaken in class. Your child has several weeks to get creative and produce something they are really proud of. The tasks have many ways to be approached and should allow creativity as well as extra learning at home.
As well as the homework project, we expect that you engage with ‘Reading at home.’ We have much work to do post pandemic, school closures and missed teaching to build the foundations necessary in reading for our children to excel across the curriculum. Engagement in Reading at home is ESSENTIAL in order to practice the skills taught in school. Children who share books at home with an adult always progress well in school. We can teach the skills necessary to read but the practice at home is so crucial to progress across the curriculum. Please find attached the class teachers’ homework expectations and projects to choose from. On Thursday 10th November we will invite all parents into school to celebrate home learning and to look at the finished projects. This means your child will need to finish and bring their project into school on the week commencing 07th November. Thank you in advance for engaging with both home reading and the homework projects. It is exciting to see what comes back next half term! Kind regards, Mrs Petersen |
